Upgrade

The following are the basic steps required to upgrade from earlier versions of php image host to the latest version (currently 1.3.1).

Upgrading to PHP Image Host Version 1.3 From previous versions

There are 5 steps to follow to upgrade your php image host installation having downloaded the new version:

1) Backup your existing database in case anything goes wrong

*** if you have modified any of the php scripts you will need to back them up too
*** and edit the new files to preserve your changes.
*** Version 1.3 includes modifications to almost all of the files included in the script.

2) Delete the .htaccess files in the images/ and thumbs/ subdirectories of your installation

*** only delete these files – do not delete your user’s images too! ***

3) Using your favourite mySQL admin tool run the queries in the upgrade-1.3.sql file
in the “install” folder of the 1.3 distribution. This updates your database to be
compatible with the new version.

4) Upload all the files to your server, overwriting the existing files,
*** EXCEPT you probably don’t want to overwrite your db.inc.php file
*** in the “includes” folder, as this is where you will have put your
*** database configuration details. Also ensure that your ftp program does
*** not delete the contents of your images and thumbs folders.

5) Visit your site. Check if everything is working. Login to the admin area and
check the new configuration pages and options to get your site set up how you
want it.
